• Unless you are on an expedited schedule, it is highly recommended that you plan your wedding for one year. There may be much pressure during this time; however, time is what you need to make sure your wedding executes the way you want it to.

• 9 - 12 months before

• 
  
• This is where you will be doing all of the preliminary planning, securing most of your vendors and setting a budget.   (Please note that the budget planning starts after you set the date, determine the number of guests and determine the type of wedding you want.)
• Vendors
• Shopping for your vendors is probably going to be the most arduous tasks during this period. As you go through the process of shopping for vendors, some will want to interview with you. This should be done at a time and place of your convenience; after all, they are the ones that want your business.
• Expenses and contracts
  
• This period is also where you will spend a good amount of money on deposits and retainers. Please remember that this money is gone as, for the most part, it is non-refundable.
• Another important part here is that you need to secure contract with every service or vendor you hire. If that service or vendor does not provide a contract then you should look elsewhere.

• 6 - 9  months before

• Here things tend to relax a bit but you are still busy with guest list building and selecting where you want to be registered.

You might also consider such things as maybe getting a website for your wedding built.  With a website you can publish directions to your ceremony, directions  from the ceremony to the reception, what stores you are registered with, information on local hotels, the link to your online guest request system (courtesy of Maine DJ Service) and so on.

4 - 6 months before

Now you are starting to make things official; the invitations are purchased, the rings are purchased, the newspapers are informed and so on. Start devoting any free time you have to wedding planning!

2 - 4 months before

Now things start heating up again. Make sure to log into the FREE online wedding planner offered by Maine DJ Service to start to complete details about your wedding date.

1 month before

Contact all of your vendors to setup final meetings and make final payments.
